Effect of histamine on tissue inulin space in rabbits

Abstract
|
|
|
The effect of histamine on inulin spaces of various tissues, such as, lung, cardiac muscle, liver, skeletal muscle, intestine and spleen were studied in rabbits. Eight normal rabbits were used as control and on eight rabbits, effect of histamine was observed.
Rabbits of both groups were nephrectomized in the same day of experimentation.
Iriulin was administered intravenously. Total inulin space was measured after two hours of equibration. Blood samples were collected at every thirteen minutes and assayed for inulin. tissue inulin concentration
Tissue inulin space, expressed as plasma inuin concentration x 100, varied tissue to tissue.
The order of magnitude of tissue inulin space was lung, cardiac muscle, spleen, skeletal muscle, intestine and liver.
Histamine produced decrease of tissue inulin space as well as total body inulin space as compared to control.
